About this house:  This amazing,  luxury beach house is easily the best sqft. value in the prestigious Beachtown Galveston community. Located one row from the beach, this home features an open and expansive design with abundant windows and porch space to take advantage of the great views of both the ocean and community/nature preserves. Optional 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. Chef’s kitchen with plenty of counter space, built-ins, and breakfast nook. Lots of high-end finishes and touches that you can still impact – see specifications tab.

About the engineering: This home, like all others in the community, is being built to the highest construction quality and standards. Even though the eye of Hurricane IKE passed right over Beachtown, the only damage that occurred to the newly built homes certified through this program occurred on the ground floor due to the 14 ft increase in ocean levels.  The breakaway ground floor walls did their job…making repairs simply and quick.

About the design:  We took the best ideas from all of our favorite homes, plans, magazines, movies, etc. and put them into this home’s design.  So really, credit goes to many.  We also have built a bench of experts assisting us throughout the build, such kitchen /home designers and the prior Beachtown Town Architect, Chad Cooper.  Chad is an incredibly bright and talented architect.  Should you decide to design and build your own home, I highly recommend him.  He has been invaluable to use in our efforts to refine and improve our house plans.  He has posted articles and pictures of his Beachtown projects on his blog.  Check it out.  It is a great read.

About the builders: I can’t say enough our about builders, Hank Gregory Builders.  They bring to the table a stellar reputation and over 30 years of building experience on Galveston Island.  Their first and only priority is to their customers and they are completely transparent in their business transactions. If you are considering building your own home on Galveston Island, you would be crazy to at least not consider them.

About the community: Beachtown is a DPZ (Duany Plater-Zyberk) planned TND (Traditional Neighborhood Development) located on the East Beach of Galveston Island. If you are a fan of coastal communities, then you are no doubt aware of their numerous other signature projects including Seaside and Rosemary Beach in Florida.

The goal with Beachtown is to create a town that captures the discarded values of 50 years ago, values that have been replaced today by grid-locked, automobile-dependent suburbia. This vision of a new town encourages pedestrian traffic, community interaction and interdependence among neighbors, while relying on strict urban codes and regulations to ensure architectural harmony.
