Well, we are down to final punch list items.  It is hard to believe this home will be 100% done in just days and this build adventure will be over.

The house really looks great, particularly with new professionally designed landscaping plan.

As is our approach to the entire build, we specifically selected plants that would be low maintenance but still look great.  We also added great landscaping details like a stone path to the ground floor living and shower area.  Rather than just going w/ small shrubs, we also planted a variety of palms that provide some much needed visual and height differentiation and interest.

With the landscaping we also had a multi-zone professional sprinkler system installed.  The only hose you’ll need is for washing down your fishing gear!

The Beachtown Dream Home meets the Fortified...for safer living (R).

As I have documented in early posts,  this house is built to exceed the most stringent building codes.  Today we received our letter confirming that 810 Shiraz Passage (the Beachtown Dream Home) has earned the Fortified…for safer living(R) designation by the Institute for Business & Home Safety.

I would never build or buy a home on the island that does not meet the requirements of this program.  I am extremely pleased and proud to have achieved it for the Beachtown Dream Home as this truly is the gold standard in quality construction.

The Beachtown Dreamhome also received its Texas Windstorm Certification on 8/25/2010/

We had some great weather, clouds and sun over the past two weekends.  Such being the case, I took some new photos that really update  showcase how great this house looks against a beautiful blue Galveston sky.  Enjoy the slideshow and check out the updated shots in the gallery

New Beachtown Dream Home paint scheme viewed from primary dune walkover.

Well, after days and weeks of consideration, we chose our exterior paint scheme and the home is now painted.  And we couldn’t be more pleased.  See if you don’t agee.   New pictures are now posted to the Gallery.

Because we designed our home to match the look and feel of the homes you will see at Seaside, Florida, we went with a bright blue color scheme.  At first it seemed too bold of a color choice, however, we quickly realized that when the sun is at full strength, it tends to wash out the colors.  So lighter blues ended up just looking white.

The colors are as follows:

  • Trim: Lowes Anthem White
  • Hardiplank siding:  Sherman Williams Northern Lights
  • Ground floor: Lowes Smoke Infusion
  • Ground floor louvers: Sherman Williams Teacup

Note:  We only used top-of-the-line Sherman William paints designed specifically to handle tough coastal environments.

Gourmet cooks are going to love the Beachtown Dreamhome's amazing kitchen.

Again, I am always shocked by how much work is done between our visits.  This past weekend, we finalized the details of our exterior paint plan and were thrilled to see the dark hardwood floors, carpet, kitchen lights, and cabinet hardware all installed.

Our “Something’s Gotta Give” inspired kitchen is nearly complete and our Seaside, Florida inspired coastal vernacular beach home is just weeks away from being done.

We have decided to hold our second open house over labor day weekend. So if you have been secretly reading this blog and have been wanting to tour the home for yourself, please plan on attending.  Stay tuned to our blog for official open house hours.

Until then, enjoy the new pictures in the gallery!

This "Something's Gotta Give Kitchen" looks great with the new paint.

It is amazing what our builders have accomplished in just two weeks.  All interior painting is completed.  All trim work is done.  Cabinets are fully installed.  And our amazing Barn Door Room divider is finished and installed.

The interior sliding barn door might very well be one of my favorite surprise features in the home.  When fully opened, the entire first floor flows from front porch to back.  When closed, you have an entire suite closed off from the rest of the home.

Enjoy the pictures.  I’ll be posting more in the coming weeks as we complete our cabinet hardware, bathroom accessories, ceiling fans, and exterior paint selections.

Down at the Beachtown Dream Home today to pick interior and exterior paint colors.   I was extremely excited to see the kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, and media room granite counter tops installed.

I am absolutely thrilled w/ our choices.

I can’t wait to see how all of hte cabinets and islands pop once the walls are painted.

As far as our paint colors, we are going with blue, light blue and white.  The exteriors will also be blue, white and some grey.

I look forward to posting pictures.  Once I get the final paint swatches from my designer, I’ll scan and post them.

And for the record…we were out on the Galveston beach today and no tarballs!  A bit overblown in my opinion.
